Joan Valentine House

The Joan Valentine House, a large residential care facility for adults challenged by mental illness, is located two blocks north of St. Mary’s. The facility is truly a home for those who live there. As neighbors, St. Mary’s welcomes residents of Valentine House to worship, attend Bible study, and partake of special suppers and celebrations. St. Mary’s hosts a summer cookout at Valentine House, and at Christmas families purchase gifts for the residents from their own “wish lists.” Relationships built through interactions at summer barbecues hosted by St. Mary’s at the Valentine House, resulted in residents attending a trip to a talent show at Ocean County College and regular grocery shopping trips for the three lucky apartment dwellers in the Valentine House’s second facility on Johnson Avenue in Point Pleasant.
