Mary's Table
Lois Lyon
Coordinator
Mary's Table
provides food and fellowship to all who hunger or seek
companionship in a loving environment of acceptance. Started
by parishioners of Saint Mary's by the Sea Episcopal Church
in Point Pleasant Beach, and located there, Mary's Table
opened her doors on November 1 of 2012. Volunteers from
other churches, communities and businesses quickly became
involved in this worthy mission. To date over 15,000 meals
have been served. Mary's Table is supported by the generosity
and kindness of donations from individuals and businesses
as well as grants applied for and received. All are welcome,
every Thursday evening from 4 PM to 6 PM at Mary's Table.
A MESSAGE FROM MARY'S TABLE VOLUNTEERS
For over 9 years Mary's Table has provided
hot meals and warm companionship to the community. Continuing
to serve our guests has been particularly challenging
this past year but the need has never been greater. The
volunteers of Mary's Table recognize none of this would
have been possible without the vision, compassion and
determination of Lois Lyon.
Lois, along with her parish friends Chuck
Reagan and Joan Bryant, saw a role for St Mary's to feed
the bodies and spirits of those who hunger, and since
that time Lois has lead the Mary's Table family of volunteers,
greeting guests, celebrating birthdays, and making every
guest feel at home. We wish to honor Lois's unending commitment
to Mary's Table by dedicating the meals served during
the month of February to her, as a symbol of our love
and gratitude.
Mary's Table is the recipient
of a grant to support our feeding ministry from the
Hurricane
Sandy New Jersey Relief Foundation (HSNJRF).
