The Seamen's Church Institute of New York and New Jersey, housed along the waterfront on both sides of the Hudson River, is an organization affiliated with the Episcopal Church and staffed by Episcopalian priests and lay persons that was created to advocate for the personal, professional, and spiritual well being of the over one million merchant mariners who enter the New York Harbor each year. Through its multiple facilities, the institute provides hospitality and assistance for seafarers as it promotes their safety, dignity and improved working and living conditions.
