The Vestry

St. Mary’s current twelve-member vestry, with the Rector and two wardens bring skills from the fields of education, business, nursing, Finance, and law enforcement. Each vestry member serves on at least one committee addressing an aspect of parish life: finance, stewardship, buildings and grounds, fellowship, Christian education, communication, worship, and Outreach. Vestry members generally serve a single three-year term, after which they leave the vestry to allow participation by a wide range of parishioners. A rotating vestry brings new ideas and new skills to parish leadership. Vestry members are accustomed to being given significant independence and responsibility in the accomplishment of their goals, under the general supervision of the rector. This is consistent with St. Mary’s broad-based and diffused lay leadership, which seeks guidance and support from the rector, but does not require the rector’s direct participation in each and every activity in the parish.
